The Broodthaers Society of America (BSA) examines the work of Marcel Broodthaers within the political and cultural context of the United States. America was a great influence on Broodthaers, both directly through his experience of Pop Art and indirectly through his shared interest in the poetics of publicity, merchandise, and the conquest of space. Put another way, the Broodthaers Society of America provides multiple forums in which the United States might contemplate its reflection in the convex mirror that is Marcel Broodthaers. The BSA offers free public access to its collection of Marcel Broodthaers-related publications and ephemera; free admission to lectures, screenings, and events; free contact within its growing network of scholars and enthusiasts; paid subscription to L’oeil Vigilant, its digital poetry magazine; and paid access to MBnb, a live/work commercial space located in New York City and made available through Airbnb. All of these aspects are clearly designated on the BSA’s website.
