1646 is a project-space for contemporary art. A dedicated space for experimental art practices and ideas. 1646 aims to offer artists the ideal working conditions to be able to produce new work, take risks, make new strides in their practice and to share these with our audience. 1646 is a space where hospitality, care, and trust always come first.
1646 interest lies in the artistic practice rather than individual works. Therefore, 1646 focuses on solo exhibitions and a program of activities to fully reflect the artists’ voice and mentality. Next to a year-long program of exhibitions, 1646 hosts artists talks, video screenings, and lectures and runs a short-term residency for foreign artists and curators.

1646 is run by four artists: Nico Feragnoli (IT), Johan Gustavsson (SE), Floris Kruidenberg (NL) and Clara Pallí (ES), and it is located in the center of The Hague.
